PACER is a fee-based service. Before accessing a document through PACER, we recommend using Bloomberg Law Dockets. Bloomberg Law Dockets have direct access to PACER, and most documents are available through Bloomberg Law free of charge. See a law librarian if you have any questions.
PACER provides public access to documents filed at all federal courts. PACER requires all users to register to access the site. To date, there is no academic registration. For more information about registration, see a law librarian.
Access to court information through PACER costs $0.10 a page. Billable pages are calculated in two different ways. HTML formatted documents are charged using a formula based on the number of bytes extracted. 4,320 bytes is equal to one billable page. For PDFs, one PDF page is one billable page. For more information on the PACER fee structure, see the PACER FAQ on the home page.
Because of PACER's fee-based structure, it is recommended that users should first navigate the PACER training site. The PACER training site can be found on the How to Use PACER page.
Below are some screenshots of the PACER Training Site. You can access the PACER Training Site here.
