Campbell Law Grads Do Well On Bar Exam
August 29, 1980
Dean F. Leary Davis of Campbell University's School of Law reports that 80 percent of the members of the Class of 1980 passed the recent North Carolina State Bar examination, the same percentage that passed when the university's first law class took the exam in 1979.
Campbell's 1980 passing rate exceeds the state average by 12 percent. Dean Davis described as unfortunate and damaging a statement attributed to anonymous Bar officials and printed in several North Carolina newspapers Wednesday prior to the release of the 1980 Bar Examination results to school officials. The unofficial statement erroneously attributed the decline in the overall passage rates among law graduates to, among other things, the lower success rate of Campbell graduates. Mr. Davis also noted the success of alumni retaking the examination, combined with 100 percent passing rate on out-of-state exams in 1979, brought the pass rate of Campbell's charter law class to over 90 percent.
