Attorney Services

Reference Assistance

While the needs of the Campbell Law community are first priority, the reference librarians also assist members of the North Carolina Bar.

Reference librarians may:

  • help locate law library resources
  • instruct in the use of library materials and electronic resources
  • suggest appropriate resources and research strategies
  • look up readily available information, such as legal citation verifications, addresses or telephone numbers
  • assist with locating resources not found in the law library collection
  • refer patrons to other libraries or institutions for materials

Reference librarians may not:

  • conduct legal research on patron's behalf
  • interpret the law
  • provide legal advice
  • read statutes, cases, court rules, or definitions over the phone

Attorneys may call the library to request reference assistance. However, telephone assistance is limited by the availability of staff.

E-mail service is also available for simple, direct questions (e.g., hours, policies, book or legal citation verifications).

Library Catalog & Databases

All the library's databases are available on workstations in the library and on your device within the law school. To view a complete list, see the A-Z Database list. Only those that do not require a personal login (Bloomberg, Lexis, Westlaw) are accessible to attorneys.

Westlaw Public Access

Complimentary limited access to Westlaw is available. Ask the circulation desk attendant for the login instructions.

With Westlaw Public Access, attorneys can search primary federal and state law, as well as validate research with KeyCite.

Printing is not available, but you can email or download documents, within limits.

Copying

There are three photocopiers in room 203D. The charge for copies is $.10 per page. We can accept cash or check only.

You may also scan to email or USB at no charge.

If you wish to make copies while you are in the library, ask the circulation assistant or a library staff member for assistance.
